Surprise!

Saturday was a perfect day for a perfect surprise retirement party.

Setting: Royal Glenora Club
Time: Noon
Flowers: Roses

I decided to give the centrepieces some height instead of the usual low lying (and overdone). The tall centrepieces will compliment the high ceiling room and give a lot of drama. I made these black and green ribbon to go around the top to hide the foam underneath.

I found these really nice low white bowls to put the arrangements in after. It looks like I actually made the arrangements in the bowl.

Close up of the bouquet for the guest of honour. I wanted to use her favourite flowers but some of them are already out of season. Lily of the valley, muscaris and sweet peas were not in season. Too bad. I actually arranged the bouquet twice. The first time it was too pink. I am so glad I added some yellow roses and took out some of the tulips. It was much more colourful without looking like a colour wheel.

After: In one of her favourite vase.
